✔️ How does Rynex 0.05% Nasal Spray work?

Oxymetazoline acts by reducing the swelling of the blood vessels in the nose and eyes. This helps in decreasing the discomfort and redness caused by the dilated blood vessels.

✔️ Side Effects of Rynex 0.05% Nasal Spray

Common side effects may include local irritation, dryness of the mouth and throat, burning, stinging, sneezing, or increased nasal discharge. Temporary discomfort at the application site may also occur.

✔️ Quick Suggestions:

• Avoid deep breathing as it will cause the medication to go back to the throat and make it less effective.
• Do not share the bottle with anyone else so that you do not spread germs.
• It is advised to avoid contact with known allergens (allergy-causing agents) such as pollen, dust, etc. Certain food items are known to cause allergies to you.
• Maintain personal hygiene and keep your surroundings clean.
• Oxymetazoline can make nasal congestion worse if used for more than 3 or 4 days in a row (called rebound congestion).

✔️ Indication of Rynex 0.05% Nasal Spray

Rynex 0.05% Nasal Spray contains Oxymetazoline which belongs to the group of medicines called Nasal decongestants. It is used in adults and adolescents (aged 12 years or above) to provide relief from nasal congestion, itching, and discomfort caused due to common cold, sinusitis (inflammation of the sinuses) or allergic rhinitis (an allergic condition).

✔️ Pharmacology

Oxymetazoline Hydrochloride, the active ingredient in Rynex, is an imidazoline derivative sympathomimetic amine. It acts as a direct agonist at α-adrenoceptors, causing vasoconstriction of the arterioles in the nasal mucosa. This reduces blood flow, diminishes swelling, improves airway potency, and enhances nasal sinus drainage.

✔️ Dosage & Administration of Rynex 0.05% Nasal Spray

• Adults and children (6 years and older): 2 or 3 sprays in each nostril twice daily for 3-5 days.
• Elderly: No dosage reduction is needed.
• Children below 6 years: Not suitable for this age group.

Administration:

• Shake the bottle gently and remove the dust cover.
• Prime the spray by pressing the applicator until a fine mist appears (if first use or after a long gap).
• Blow your nose to clear the nostrils.
• Close one nostril, insert the applicator into the other nostril, tilt your head slightly forward, and keep the spray upright.
• Breathe in through your nose while pressing the applicator to release a spray.
• Breathe out through your mouth.
• Repeat for the other nostril if needed.
• Clean the applicator weekly with warm water and let it dry naturally.

✔️ Before using Rynex 0.05% Nasal Spray, inform your doctor if you are taking any of the following medicines:

• Antidepressants (used to manage depression) such as monoamine oxidase inhibitors (Ex. moclobemide, isocarboxazid, phenelzine, and tranylcypromine), tricyclic antidepressants (Ex. amitriptyline, nortriptyline), lithium, fluoxetine, sertraline, citalopram, escitalopram, etc.
• Medicines used to control blood pressure such as alpha-blockers (Ex. prazosin, terazosin), beta-blockers (Ex. propranolol, atenolol), or bethanidine, debrisoquine, and guanethidine timolol, betaxolol (used to manage glaucoma in the eye)
• Medicines used to manage parkinsonism (such as bromocriptine and rasagiline)
• Medicines used for irregular heart rate (such as digoxin)
• Medicines used for migraine headaches (such as ergotamine or methysergide)

✔️ Contraindications

Rynex is contraindicated in patients with cardiovascular disease, hyperthyroidism, prostatic enlargement, angle closure glaucoma, and hypersensitivity to any of its ingredients.

✔️ Pregnancy & Lactation

The safety of Rynex during pregnancy and lactation has not been established, but it is not thought to pose a hazard during these periods. Consult your doctor before use.

• Avoid contact with eyes.
• Do not use it for longer than seven days without medical advice.
• Frequent or prolonged use may cause rebound congestion.
• Not suitable for children below 6 years.
